The Tigersharks Surf Club is a not-for-profit program operated by KLG Adventures that offers youth and their families an opportunity to learn ocean education and water safety; including fitness, stand up paddle boarding and surfing. Members and organizations of the community donate their time, experience and equipment to the club to connect and teach life skills through activities. KLG Adventures applies the same techniques and tools that they use in their professional classes to the surf club curriculum; additional emphasis is placed on swimming drills and skills taught by an accredited lifeguard and swim coach. The program is designed to educate youth and their families about the ocean environment and build confidence by progressively learning the challenging sport of surfing.

Tigersharks Surf Club has been amazing for Degen. [KLG Adventures] has given him opportunities he wouldn't otherwise have. I am so grateful for the coaches who go out and do this with the kids. The suit, the board, the instruction, even rides when needed. It's amazing. I feel so blessed to live in such a great community where it really is a village raising a child! Thank you. --Nichole
I have gotten a lot out of being in surf club this last season. Not only does it give me something to do, it gives me an excuse to go surfing with my friends. It is great exercise and training. I am learning a lot and I love doing it... Thank you! --Member
The first time out in the water got me super excited!! Finally out there and learning the ropes with the help of all the surf club leaders. The experience was well worth the small pay and the fun I had I will always remember! They helped me ride my first wave all the way in shore! It was adrenalin pumping!! I'll never forget it. --Member
The Tigersharks Surf Club logo is quite special to the Taft High School Team Members (Taft Tigers mascot is the Tiger). It is in honor of Joe Furlan. Brenda Lemmon, the school "office mom" at Taft 7-12, asked Brian Freschi to make a shirt in memory of Joe Furlan. He was a student at our school who died after a heart surgery last school year. Joe was very close to Brenda and she wanted to give a shirt to his closest friends to remember him by. Brenda gave Brian a picture of the tiger and told Brian she wanted him to be surfing because Joe loved to surf. “The actual artwork went through many stages to become what you see now. It was hand drawn by Noah Lambie, a fellow teacher at Taft 7-12, and then I finished it with an ink pen. It was then scanned into the computer and vectorized using a graphics program.” ~ Brian Freschi
